Engineering Momentum Internships

Engineering Momentum connects community college students with opportunities for prestigious summer research engineering internships.

These PAID internships offer valuable hands-on experience, a chance to link classroom knowledge to real-world applications, and the opportunity to build a strong professional network for future career endeavors.

Application Process

Please note that all phases must be completed to be considered for an Engineering Momentum internship.

The application process may include additional steps at specific locations (including, but not limited to, Lockheed Martin and NREL).

  • This form will be used to determine if you are eligible for an Engineering Momentum internship. You will need to submit an unofficial transcript.

    Form opens October 28, 2024

  • After you have completed the Internship Eligibility Form and determined to be eligible, you will receive an email with 5 interview questions. Please video record yourself answering the questions in a quiet, well-lit room. You may use your personal cellphone or Zoom to record yourself.

    For students who move on to Phase 2, video submissions due December 13, 2024.

  • If you have moved on from Phase 2 of the application process, you will be notified by January 17, 2025.

    Note: your resume, cover letter, and updated unofficial transcript will need to be submitted during Phase 5.

  • If you have moved on to Phase 4 of the application process, please prepare your resume and cover letter.

    If you need support, please reach out to your Student Support Specialist (currently only for CCA and CCD students) or a STEM advisor at your college.

  • Once Summer 2025 projects are released, date TBD (generally late February or early March), you will be asked to rank your project preferences. You will also submit your cover letter, resume, and updated unofficial transcript at this time. An email will be sent to you once projects are available.

    Project selections due March 14, 2025

  • Notification of internship project placement with be sent VIA email between March 26 - April 4, 2025.

    During this phase, you may be interviewed by a faculty member or program manager.

  • Internship offers must be accepted by community college students by April 11, 2025.

    Internships begin Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
